Staying At The Center Of
It All
The Renaissance Resort At World Golf Village
Whether
you're seeking a golfer's paradise or the ultimate
vacation destination, look no farther than The Renaissance
Resort at World Golf Village. Ideally situated in
the heart of the beautifully landscaped 6,300-acre
World Golf Village in St. Augustine, Fla., the award-winning
resort offers a wealth of amenities that will please
any guest.
Among the many resort offerings
are two extraordinary 18-hole championship courses
that were designed by the legends of the game. King
& Bear is the only course in the world designed
jointly by Arnold Palmer ("The King") and Jack Nicklaus
("The Bear"). This picturesque 7,279-yard course
features loblolly pines and open meadows on the
front nine, and impressive 200-year-old oak trees
throughout the back nine. The signature features
of the course include its placid lakes edged with
large coquina rocks and the striking incorporation
of rock into several bunkers and cart paths. The
course challenges amateurs and pros alike with five
sets of tees and a course rating of 75.2.
Slammer & Squire
is named for legendary hall of famers "Slammin'"
Sam Snead and Gene "The Squire" Sarazen. They partnered
with architect Bobby Weed to create this impressive
par-72 tree-lined course that features gentle rolling
fairways and challenging lakes. The 6,939-yard course,
with a course rating of 73.8 and a slope of 135,
is distinguished by memorable par 3s, as well as
for its preservation of the woodlands, wetlands
and natural beauty of St. Augustine.
Both courses feature
such on-course amenities as chilled apples on the
first and 10th holes, complimentary range balls
and Global Positioning Systems (GPS) in every cart.
The Renaissance Resort also features
Full Swing Golf, the world's finest indoor golf
simulator. Superior technology and unmatched realism
let you play, practice and learn on simulated greens
of 22 top-ranked courses.
Guests of The Renaissance
also have access to the PGA TOUR Golf Academy, which
offers a full schedule of golf schools and private
lessons, and features expansive practice facilities,
including a 2,700-square-foot learning center with
all-weather hitting bays and multiple covered tee
areas. Programs utilize a variety of the game's
modern learning tools, including several state-of-the-art
video analysis systems.
A great way for golfers
to experience the resort is by taking advantage
of the "Swing and Stay Golf Package" now being offered.
The rate for the package starts at just $125 per
person, per night, based on double occupancy.
In addition to the
golf offerings, The Renaissance Resort boasts a
wealth of additional recreational options that appeal
to golfers and non-golfers alike. Guests are able
to enjoy a 24-hour health club and sauna, large
swimming pool, hot tub, tennis courts, the Little
Legends professionally supervised child-activity
program, billiard room, cigar club, 24-hour business
center, jogging trails and full-service concierge.
Just a chip shot from
the resort, guests will find the remarkable World
Golf Hall of Fame, an IMAX theater and an 18-hole,
real grass championship putting course. The 132-yard
Challenge Hole, modeled after the celebrated 17th
hole of the Stadium Course at Tournament Players
Club at Sawgrass, is surrounded by water and is
just steps from the hotel.
For guests who wish
to experience the beach, you have the perfect opportunity,
since Renaissance Resort guests have privileges
at Serenata Beach Club, Florida's premier private
oceanfront club. Combining European grace with Caribbean
charm, Serenata Beach Club provides Renaissance
guests with the sun, surf, sand and quiet serenity
of Ponte Vedra Beach. The exclusive club offers
access to miles of sparkling Atlantic beach, a two-level
Mediterranean-style clubhouse, a 4,000-square-foot
adult pool with dedicated lap lanes, a heated family
pool with 12-foot waterfall, a kids' play pool with
fun water features, a well-equipped fitness center,
spa services and a professionally supervised child-activity
program.
Yet another option
for guests is the new PGA TOUR Spa Laterra, which
opened in December 2004. Located within the World
Golf Village community of Laterra, just a short
complimentary ride from The Renaissance Resort,
the world-class spa offers a wealth of services,
ranging from soothing aromatherapy and invigorating
deep-tissue massages to signature skin-care services
and rejuvenating body treatments. The spa's design
incorporates water in its many forms, including
fountains, streams, small lakes, waterfalls, pools
and reflecting ponds. Central to the architecture
is a garden sanctuary featuring three floating cabana
treatment rooms that drift on a tranquil reflecting
pond filled with colorful Koi fish.
Of particular interest
to couples where one wishes to golf while the other
prefers to experience the new spa is the resort's
"Guiltless Golf Package." The rate for the package
is from $135 per person, per night, based on double
occupancy.
While the many resort
offerings are impressive, accommodations at The
Renaissance are first class, too. Appointed with
European accents and providing wonderful views overlooking
the Village's picturesque lake and golf courses,
the hotel offers the finest in-room amenities. These
include high-speed Internet access, two telephones
with data ports, executive desk, wet bar, refrigerator,
two televisions, iron and ironing board, in-room
coffee and hair dryers.
The lobby of the 10-story
resort is also striking, with a towering open atrium
complete with running streams, a cascading waterfall
and exotic 30-foot palms. Natural limestone, marble
and granite floors in the lobby set the stage for
a grand resort.
Dining options at
the resort include the casually elegant Cypress
Pointe Restaurant, where you can dine on the freshest
seafood and juiciest steaks. After dinner, you can
relax at the resort's popular Links Lounge.
In addition to its status
as a premier golf and vacation destination, the
resort is unsurpassed in its offerings for groups.
The Renaissance Resort and the adjoining St. Johns
County Convention Center feature 86,000 square feet
of flexible meeting and event space. Among the many
venues is a 26,450-square-foot ballroom, which can
accommodate up to 2,700 guests for receptions.
The "official hotel
of the World Golf Hall of Fame," The Renaissance
Resort is ideally located next to that impressive
facility, and is an easy stroll to the renowned
Walk of Champions, where you can see commemorative
bricks featuring the signatures of past and present
golf legends. The shops and restaurants of World
Golf Village are also a short walk from the resort.
Guests of the resort
also have the opportunity to explore beautiful St.
Augustine, the nation's oldest city. Founded in
1565, the city is rich with Spanish architecture,
charming cobblestone streets and many fascinating
historical sites. Guests can visit the historic
Castillo de San Marcos fort, The Fountain of Youth
and the nation's Oldest Wooden Schoolhouse. St.
Augustine offers sightseeing trolleys, charter boats
and an array of water sports.
