Professor of Instruction -
Jim Sowerwine
Instructor Jim Sowerwine has been mentored by two of the most recognizable golf teachers in the modern age — Jim Flick and Rick Smith. Currently, Sowerwine is the director of instruction at the Rick Smith Golf Academy at Tiburon in Naples, Fla. He also is the inventor of Inside Approach, one of the top training aids on the market. Sowerwine instructs a number of tour players and has appeared on The Golf Channel's Golf Academy numerous times over the past few years.

Sowerwine formed his mastery of golf instruction under National Golf Hall-of-Fame inductee Jim Flick while at the Nicklaus-Flick Golf Schools from 1997 to 1998. Before that point, he was an instructor under Rick Smith, a National Teacher of the Year. Sowerwine rejoined Rick Smith after his time at the Nicklaus-Flick Golf Schools when he became the director of instruction at the Rick Smith Golf Academy at Tiburon. He has held that position since 1998.

Professor of Instruction -
Stephen Aumock
An alum of the University of Alabama, Stephen Aumock is a regular contributor to Golf Illustrated magazine with an impressive instruction pedigree. From 1997 to 2002, Aumock taught at the Hank Haney Golf Ranch in Dallas, teaching over 5,000 lessons in that time. He was promoted to director of instruction during that time, has been on the coaching staff of Southern Methodist University since 2000 and is currently the director of instruction at Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, Texas. Aumock's professional students include 2002 TPC Champion Craig Perks and Marten Olander, European PGA Tour player.

Professor of Instruction - Roger Gunn
Roger Gunn has been a long-time contributor to Golf Illustrated magazine and is regarded as one of southern California's top teaching professionals. Gunn can draw upon his playing experiences as a two-time U.S. Open participant in 1989 and 1997. Some of Gunn's professional students include PGA Tour players Tom Lehman, Steve Pate and Jay Delsing. Some of Hollywood's biggest names have also turned to Gunn for golf help, including Will Smith, Pierce Brosnan and Gary Sinise. The Professional Golfers' Association of America recognized Gunn as their Clubfitter of the Year in 2000 and Teacher of the Year in 2001.

Professor of Instruction and Equipment - "Dr. Feel" Lee Miller
An engineering background coupled with playing experience on the PGA Tours, Lee Miller (better known as Dr. Feel) draws upon a unique background to produce some of the most “player-sensitive” equipment in the world. Miller began research in 1985 to test a concept that showed most tour professionals were blaming problems on their swing, when the problem was actually with their equipment. Dr. Feel began promoting Feel Golf equipment on the PGA Tour in 1986 and was incorporated in 1990. Since that time, many golfers have added Feel wedges and Feel grips to their arsenal.

Professor of Instruction and Equipment - Bob Burns
Bob Burns has crossed paths with some of the legendary names of golf, having been in the game since the age of 10. As a young caddie at Gary Country Club in Indiana, Burns had the opportunity to caddy for Arnold Palmer. Burns applied for his own head professional teaching position after graduating from Northwood University, eventually gaining a position at a Chaska, a newly built golf course in Appleton, Wisc. As part of his services, Burns became involved with golf club repair, soon garnering so much business that he opened a small golf shop in downtown Appleton. Burns began getting calls to come teach the fine art of clubfitting, repair and alteration, conducting a school at Tommy Armour Golf Co. and for Ben Hogan's subsidiary of American Machine Foundry (AMF). In 1996, Burns completed his thesis to become a PGA Master Professional — the highest honor given by the PGA. Burns has also created a reputable business in the manufacturing of golf clubs, Bob Burns Golf Co.

Professor of Fitness - Mike Pedersen
With 24 years of experience as a fitness trainer, Oregon State University alumnus Mike Pedersen has spent the last 10 years concentrating on golf fitness. His expertise on the oft-overlooked aspect of golf fitness as placed Pedersen in high demand from media members across the globe. Pedersen has been featured on ESPN Radio, Pure Golf with Peter Kessler and in the pages of Men's Health magazine. Pedersen's athletic career began in track and field, where he was nationally ranked in javelin from 1982 to 1987.

Professor of Instruction - Deb Vangellow
All great teachers had to be inspired and taught by someone before them. Deb Vangellow’s mentors include Kathy Whitworth, Craig Harmon and Long Drive Champion Mike Austin. In addition to her on-course education, Vangellow earned a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters of Science in Health/Physical Education/Coaching at the University of Northern Iowa, as well as a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology/Leadership from Miami (Ohio) University. Her combined on-course and in-class experience has led to teaching opportunities at the Kathy Whitworth Golf Academy in Texas, the Nike Junior Golf Camp at Pebble Beach and at Rice University. In her time as a golf instructor, Vangellow has been showered with accolades. Vangellow is listed as one of the “Top 50” teachers in the U.S. by Golf For Women magazine, as well as being one of Golf Magazine and Golf Digest’s top regional teachers.

Dean, School of Rules & Etiquette
- Yves Ton-That
Golf is a game of rules. Yves Ton-That has become one of the top authorities on the rules of golf, with over ten years as a rules official under his belt. Ton-That has also published five books on golf rules, including “Golf Rules Quick Reference Stroke Play Guide” and “Golf Rules & Etiquette Crystal Clear.” With contributions to many leading golf publications, Ton-That has built a reputation as an international expert on golf rules.

Professor of Equipment
- Tyler Henning
Golf Illustrated magazine’s equipment editor also serves as one of Golf Illustrated University’s professors of equipment. Henning works hand-in-hand with the world’s largest golf companies on a day-to-day basis. Along with his knowledge of what the big names are producing in the golf market, Henning enjoys also finding the smaller companies that provide jewels of their own in the golf world. In 2005, Henning won the International Network of Golf’s media award in the equipment category for his coverage of new high-tech drivers.
